Helping Your Child with Homework
Homework is an extension of your child's work day, and helps to foster independence, work ethic, and resilience when faced with challenges. Each year, your child's homework will become more and more challenging. Not only for your child, but for you as well as you help him/her to navigate it. For example, I needed to look up the term "forward rounding" the other day as I was preparing for our Strong Beginnings assessments. I googled the term, and voilà! I found a YouTube video that explained the term clearly.
I suggest that you use search engines such as Google when you are unsure how to help your child. Be sure to do this with your child - s/he needs to see you using these tools to understand how they may be helpful.
I have included below some sites and videos that will help with some of our "big idea" topics. Check back often. I will update the page as I find new and helpful sites.
